Targeting Solana: New IPO Filing Sparks On-Chain Equity Opportunities

Figure Technology Files for Second Public Offering Focused on Blockchain-Based Equity

Figure Technology, a blockchain-centric financial services firm specializing in tokenized assets and decentralized lending, has announced plans for a second public offering. This initiative aims to release native equity directly on a public blockchain, specifically on Solana, to broaden the scope of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. The move follows the company's recent listing on Nasdaq and signals a strategic shift toward on-chain equity issuance.

At the Solana Breakpoint conference, Chairman Mike Cagney revealed that the firm has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to introduce a new version of Figure’s equity on the Solana blockchain. Unlike traditional exchanges such as Nasdaq or regulatory intermediaries like Robinhood and Goldman Sachs, this blockchain-native security will not be traded on conventional platforms. Instead, Cagney explained, the security will be issued and traded br /> on an on-chain system via Figure’s proprietary alternative trading system, which functions effectively as a decentralized exchange.

This on-chain issuance mechanism enables investors to leverage tokenized securities within DeFi protocols. These assets can be borrowed, lent, or used in other financial activities, creating new liquidity channels for equity holdings. By issuing equity directly on Solana, Figure aims to facilitate seamless integration with DeFi ecosystems, providing a more accessible, efficient, and transparent method for equity trading.

Cagney emphasized the broader company's vision: supporting native equity issuance for other firms within the Solana ecosystem. This approach not only streamlines the process but encourages wider adoption of tokenized securities within the decentralized financial landscape.

Tokenization on Solana Gains Credibility

Solana, one of the most active public blockchains, is increasingly recognized as a key platform for asset tokenization, especially in the real-world asset (RWA) sector. While Ethereum continues to dominate the tokenization space, industry observers like Matt Hougan from Bitwise project Solana’s potential as the preferred network for tokenized assets and stablecoins in the future.

Market research from RedStone highlights Solana’s rising prominence, particularly in the tokenized US Treasury markets. Thanks to its high transaction speed, throughput, and rapid finality, Solana is positioning itself as a formidable challenger to other networks, especially in the RWA segment. The platform’s capabilities are viewed as instrumental in driving the evolution of a more efficient, interconnected financial ecosystem.

As interest in tokenized real-world assets grows, Solana’s fast and scalable infrastructure is poised to become a central hub for such financial innovations, expanding opportunities for institutional and retail investors alike.

Analyst: Bitcoin can reclaim $100K without a new narrative

Bitcoin has stalled below the $100,000 threshold, marking a run of almost five months without a breakout above that level. As of the latest market close, BTC hovered around $78,250 after a February nadir of about $60,000, underscoring a slow, grinding recovery amid broader market dynamics. In parallel, tech markets—especially AI-focused equities—have captured the spotlight, with investors rotating capital away from crypto in search of different risk-reward profiles. Nvidia (NVDA), the leading AI stock by market cap, has gained about 5.08% since the start of the year, while Bitcoin has faced a roughly 10% dip over the same period, illustrating a diverging performance within risk assets. MN Trading Capital founder Michael van de Poppe suggested that Bitcoin may not require a fresh narrative to push back above $100,000. In a post on X, he asked what narrative would drive BTC to the milestone and concluded that “price moves upwards, and the narrative will create itself.” He continued that ...
